There will be some one-off changes to our normal arrangements this coming Sunday, 15th December. We’ve discovered that National Grid are going to have a planned power cut at the church on Sunday, to install a new substation. The good news is we know and we have a plan!
Here’s what we are planning:
- There will be no lighting in the church building – you might like to bring a torch or other battery-powered lamp with you, if you have something suitable.
- We’ll be using hymn books and printed service sheets. The service will be a little shorter than usual.
- We should have some sound amplification available, but unfortunately no loop system, and will be using recorded music for our hymns and songs.
- We will heat the church as much as possible before the start of the power cut, and aim to keep the doors closed to keep the heat in. There are blankets you can borrow, and we’d encourage you to wrap up warmly (not forgetting your Christmas jumper!).
- Unfortunately we won’t be able to serve hot drinks, but you’re welcome to bring a drink with you in a travel mug!
Please do pass the message on to those we might not be able to reach via email or online. There will also be Morning Worship at St Mary’s, Hobs Moat at 9.30am, with the same sermon. (St Mary’s are not affected by the power cut!)
We look forward to seeing you and worshipping together on Sunday!
